The choir was created in 1999, when it was decided to create a project for the new millennium. it was decided to record a musical CD with the name of the school choir "Ilħna ferrieħa" and twelve songs with words and music by Joseph Aquilina. These were given in appreciation to the school for the teaching of his three children, at St.Francis School Birkirkara. The music was arranged by Andrew Zammit of Tone studio where the CD was recorded. The CD was launched in December 1999.
The choir is made up of forty boys and girls with their age varying from seven to ten years. At that time they were under the supervision of Joyce Zammit, who was responsible for both the rehearsals and the recording. The children were taught to dance to these songs by Mrs Kathleen Caruana Salafia and Mrs Pauline Spiteri.
The main objective of these songs is to pray and worship God. They are all very catchy, with different styles like Country, Gospel, Ballad, etc. The CD is ideal as a Christmas, First Holy Communion or Confirmation present. it can be used for religious occasions such as First Holy Communion, during religious lessons or holy masses for children.
Apart from the school occasions, the choir participated in various other activities such as the mid-night mass on Christmas day at St.Theresa church, transmitted on the local TV station, in the celebrations of the 300 years' anniversary of the co-cathedral at Mdina, celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Religion Society "Muzew" at Cospicua, and in the anniversary of our founder Madre Margherita, where the choir sang in conjunction with the Sisters' choir. They also took part in various media programs like "Hallata Ballata", Kool, Siesta, Scooters, "Nagħmlu Festa and so on.
We were also invited at Qala, Gozo, where we sang during the First Holy Communion celebrations, during a Sports activity held at the Sports stadium at Rabat Gozo, during the procession of Good Friday at Rabat Malta and during the celebrations of Palm Sunday, also at Rabat, Malta.
